ASSIGNMENT
From reading chapters 1-8, do you believe that The World State (the society as described in Brave New World) depicts a dystopian or utopian society? In a well-developed essay, you must make a claim and support your claim with evidence from the text. Be sure to only select one side and clearly support your argument.
You are responsible for submitting your assignment by 11:59 p.m. on June 30th. I will not accept any late submissions.
SUBMITTING YOUR ESSAY
You must email your essay to akhawaja11@gmail.com. DO NOT email your essay to my McKeel email address. I will only accept essays sent to my Gmail address. If you email your essay to my McKeel email address, I will not accept your assignment. You may continue to email me with any questions at my McKeel email address. EMAIL FORMAT
When you email me your essay, you will need to put “AP ASSIGNMENT 1” in the subject line. You will need to put your first and last name in the body of the message (where you would normally type your message). You will then need to attach your essay. You must send the essay as an attachment!
Do not forget, you must submit your essay by 11:59 p.m. on June 30th. Do not wait until the last minute because I will not accept any late assignments.
I am sure many of you are thinking to yourself “how long does this essay need to be?” My answer is: It needs to be a well-developed essay. This is something you will need to get used to in AP Language and Composition. I will rarely, if ever, give you a length requirement. If you plan on cutting corners and taking the easy way out, this class is not for you. Your assignment is to effectively support your claim, not write a five-paragraph essay. For those of you having a hard time grasping this concept, I will tell you that you will have a difficult time producing a well-written essay that is under 500 words. Remember, a large factor of your acceptance into this class is your quality of work. Good luck!
