Right now, the only books you need to purchase and read are:
1. 30 Days To a More Powerful Vocabulary- Revised Edition by Dr. Wilfred Funk and Norman Lewis
2. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
I placed an order at Books-A-Million for 15 copies of Brave New Word and 120 copies of 30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary. These books should be in this weekend. If they are not there this weekend, they will be there by next weekend.
You will need to complete the first 8 chapters of Brave New World by June 23rd. On June 23rd, I will post a blog topic, instructions and length requirements on this page. You will be responsible for completing this assignment by 11:59 p.m. on June 30th. I will not accept late assignments. Your second assignment for book 2 will not be due until July 12th.
I will also post the assignment on my McKeel webpage, and send out an email notifying you when the assignment is posted.
I previously said you will need to complete 30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary by July 16, but this deadline has changed. I will collect the actual book from you when you return to school in August. I have received a few questions about this assignment. All you need to do is read the book and complete the assignments in the book. Each day has an assignment that takes about 15 minutes to complete. DO NOT COMPLETE MULTIPLE ASSIGNMENTS IN ONE DAY. You will not benefit from this book if you try to complete it all on the last day. I want you to complete one assignment a day. It will take you 30 days to complete this book, so make sure you plan accordingly. You will have a blog topic due on July 16th pertaining to the book 30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary.
Due Dates:
Book 2: Chapters 1-8 read by June 23th
Assignment on book 2 (Part 1): Completed by June 30th
Book 2: Chapters 9-18 read by July 7th
Assignment on book 2 (Part 2): Completed by July 12th
Blog topic on Book 1: Completed by July 16th
After you have completed the listed assignments, you will receive an email notifying you of your acceptance into AP Language and Composition for the 2010-2011 school year, or your dismissal from the course. If you are accepted into the course, you will need to complete books 3 and 4 before August 19th. Completion of summer work is mandatory for acceptance into the course.
